financial services Case Study
Single Solution. Total Visibility
Following a key business acquisition, Reval needed to introduce its new capabilities to the market and show its strengths.
After acquiring Ecofinance, Reval tapped Peppercomm to reposition the company as a holistic solution for investors seeking treasury risk- and cash-management software solutions. How did we reintroduce the company to the market and demonstrate the benefits its software-as-a-service (SaaS) platform offers?
Messaging From the Outside In
Taking an outside-in approach, Peppercomm helped Reval better understand its key audiences, talking with CFOs and treasurers to identify the foreign exchange, hedging, derivatives, and other complex financial risks weighing most heavily on their minds. At the same time, Peppercomm conducted an audit of Reval’s competitors. Armed with these insights, Peppercomm identified the market problems, opportunities, and applications for Reval’s newly expanded suite of solutions. Then, Peppercomm – along with H2O, its creative counterpart – developed a communications and branding platform to drive home the message that Reval’s new offering was the complete treasury risk- and cash-management solution that CFOs and treasurers need in today’s volatile financial world.
Measurable Results
- Prior to the repositioning, Reval was thought of as a boutique firm with a specific set of capabilities. Following the launch of the rebranding and proactive communications activity, industry analysts, media, CFOs, and treasurers saw Reval as a holistic financial-services solution on a par with an elevated tier of competitors.
- In October 2011, International Treasurer wrote, “Financial risk-management company Reval can now add TMS provider to its corporate description. Reval acquired Ecofinance in a bid to expand its services and get ahead of a market that is rapidly moving toward more integrated treasury IT solutions. Reval utilizes Ecofinance to broaden Reval’s financial risk-management SaaS solution, and integrates cash and liquidity management functionality.”
- In December 2011, CFO.com wrote, “In a recent survey of about 400 corporate clients of Reval, a software-as-a-service (SaaS) company specializing in enterprise treasury and risk management, 75% said that out of the universe of risks presented by the European credit crisis, the one that concerned them most was that the changes needed to be made to their installed Treasury management applications would create havoc.”
