Taking a Cutting-edge Web Firm Mainstream
Me.dium hired Peppercom to generate awareness about its first product - a Web browser add-on that lets users surf with their friends, discover relevant sites, and link-up with other users visiting similar sites.
In February 2007, Peppercom launched Me.dium at the DEMO emerging technology conference. Leading up to the official launch at DEMO, Peppercom raised awareness online by pitching top bloggers and providing one-on-one briefings to demonstrate the product. From this, several influential blogs covered Me.dium, including TechCrunch, Read/Write Web and CNET's WebWare, among others. Moreover, aggressive outreach to top newspapers and technology publications garnered coverage in publications like USA Today and PC Magazine. Digg, the community-based popularity Web site, also featured Me.dium on its front page.
This surge of interest resulted in thousands of unique visitors and software downloads in the month of February alone. CNET also selected Me.dium as one of Webware's Top-10 Community Sites of 2007.
